A damn close shave

In my 33 years I'0ve had some close shaves in the past but his morning My wife and I (and 4 dogs + 2 cats) were so lucky to escape unscathed.

We are being battered by a strong Atlantic storm, nothing too unusual, unpleasant and cancelled my dives for the weekend but nothing out of the ordinary. We are house sitting whilst my mother gone to USA to visit family. Slept late and had breakfast in the kitchen at 13h30. The dogs have their place where their baskets lie and food are, they just ate and my wife Zsuzsi and I were in that area literary a minute before, I sat down and felt a heard a strong gust of wind, looked up and saw the huge satelite dish falling - towards me! Before I knew it or had time to react it smashed throught the glass ceilling showering glass everwhere.

Not one of us were injured, my new puppy was very close but his cries were more of a fright. I was no more than two metres away and Zsuzsi just left the area (There was a dog poo there and she went to get a kitchen towel to clean it).

My heart beat is still pumping away fast, but as I calm down I'm feelling so fortunate no one was hurt, but quite scared at the prospect it could have been so much worse, so easily.

Called the insurance company, and asked the firemen came over to make the area safe from broken glass but they suggested not to touch it until the insurance guys are over - fair enough. The glass has too layers, the top a strong shatter proof and the lowering was dangerous sharp shreds which they broke off. Now I'm just protecting the rest from further damage.

Storm has caused fiurther damage with one of the greenhouses but that is the least of my worries.

Here are some of the pics:

Your wife would have had two poo's to clean up if I had been stood there.

Glad you are all OK, the gods are looking after you, now go and buy a lottery ticket, It's your lucky day.
