Well, I appear to have been infected - just snivels, thick head, aching joints, one leg has dropped off (I'm afraid to go to the loo lest I suffer any more flu related appendage losses) and I'm sure death maybe imminent.

I have been pondering the alleged fact that men suffer more or, according to the women, are whingers. Well, I vaguely remember watching something in the last few days that suggests that we do suffer more and it was "proven" scientifically ......... of course, I may have dreamed that.

Anyway, my theory is that women are used to the stuffed up feeling (certainly those over a certain age and unable to wear white) whereas a stuffed up nose that requires the application of tissues is a totally alien feeling for us blokes ..... well, most of us. As a result we are bound to feel worse.

And before anyone gives me any gubbins about childbirth I would like to point out we don't chose to have a cold. I mean we are the high performance, brave cave-manly hero types that protect you girlies and take spiders outside for you etc .... I mean, it makes sense, high performance machines are going to sound and feel sicker when infected aren't they.

Anyway, I am slapping my one remaining thigh, laughing heartily (between coughs and splutters) and going to suffer in silence and protest, as all real men do, that I'm OK and will be fine in the morning.

Still .......... a little sympathy wouldn't hurt ........ not to mention being tucked in properly .............. maybe an hour or so of stroking my back and mopping of the fevered brow ............ perhaps a cold beer by the bedside .......... and yes the remote is a bit heavy ...... FFS it wouldn't kill you girls y'know ............ I think I'm off to inform Ms Finless to ignore my stoic bravery and to get ready to pamper ....

What exactly is it that's going around at the moment? I've had sore throat, sniffles and cough for about a week now. Not quite bad enough to be off work, but bad enough to make me feel grungy.

I think this is some sort of experimental germ warfare. For the first time EVER in our marriage, I'm ill (other than alcohol poisoning) and she's healthy.

Has anyone tried snorting Beechams Flu Powder? I just wondered if it would have more effect than mixing it with hot lager and drinking it?
