| The footage on the news showed him breathing from an Oceanic reg. For some reason he belives that he'll be able to break the static apnea record while struggling to get out of ropes, chains and locks. He'll be lucky - if I understand correctly the way to get a long time holding your breath is to remain very still and lower your heart rate. It doesn't include thrashing round trying to unpick locks

| There has been a long thread about this on deeperblue.net as to whether he can possibly break this record, whether it will be official if he does (it won't because the officiating body of freediving haven't been invited) and whether it will be a genuine attempt. Elevating the percentage of oxygen in the mix he is breathing for a while before he attempts the 'breathold' will give him a huge advantage. I didn't realise he was trying to escape from things at the same time, it does seem pretty daft. http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=65769

| I caught something on the news at the weekend - IIRC he said that he has been training and only breathes for something like 12 minutes out each hour. What?

| Don't forget people - he is an ILLUSIONIST. He wont be holding his breath for 9 minutes - it will be an illusion. It's a real shame, he was excellent when he was doing close up street magic, but these big stunts are just pants! Juz
