RIP- Syd Barrett

Syd Barrett, one of the original members of legendary rock group Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60, the band's spokesman has confirmed.
He was born Roger Keith Barrett in Cambridge in 1946 and met future bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour at school there.

The guitarist was invited to join Pink Floyd by Waters in 1965 and the group went on to sell millions of albums.

He suffered from diabetes and had not been recording music in recent years.

I have the Dutch "Classic Rock" station on in the office and, although I don't speak Dutch, I could understand that they are just playing Arnold Lane in tribute and just after announcing Syd Barrett has died.

In fact they seem to be playing a number of Floyd tracks and the DJ just said "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" and they are now playing more Floyd tracks.

Not being an original devotee I'm not actually sure when Syd left?

He left in 1968 after just one album (no not a guru, picked up from the radio!)
