Unhappy Update

Just to bring people up to speed on this. I had a second meeting yesterday afternoon (he was seen yesterday morning) and my Union rep reckoned he had muddied the waters and this woman was fishing. She was trying very hard to get me to say I'd sent him letters (a drunken postcard does NOT count in my book) seen him out of work, went to find him to speak to him, queried his marital status etc. A lot of the questions were irrelevant and on CCTV I'm seen rummaging in my bag.

"What are you doing in the picture there?"
"Looking for my mobile."
"Why?"
Gives her long even look - "To turn it on."
"So it's not on already?"
"No. Mobiles are not to be switched on in an hospital."
"Just to turn it on."
"Yes."
"Why?"
Takes deep breath, resists urge to grab her by the throat and says "To see if anyone has left voice mail or texts throughout the day."
"You didn't think to use it after what had happened?"
"I couldn't, the battery was flat. I was luck there was enough power to turn it on."
"Well, I think..."
"What you think isn't evidence."

It's now going to boil down to his word against mine. She was trying to find out what we were talking about (polite conversation) and did I ask if he was married. No, none of my business. It's a fairly normal thing to talk about. Not by me it's not, people's marital status is no concern of mine. As I said, she was fishing. So it;s going to be early next week when I know what's going on.

To the YD'er I spoke to on the phone (you know who you are!) thank you so much for your sentiments. Your little mantra - "I'm the victim, I have done nothing wrong" to be said when feeling upset works. Also the backlash should they belive him and not me and decide to terminate my employment (construtcive dismissal, tribunals etc) - I simply didn't know that and at the moment I'm not thinking that far ahead. So now I have to sweat it out, but as soon as I know what's going on I will say. I'm back at the 'wish I'd kept my mouth shut stage.'

Hope this all works out properly for you.

Angry

When this is reolved (which it will be) just make sure your lousy employers (they're mine too) do something to rectify the emotional trauma that not only your attacker has put you through but they have as well. Do you have a staff couselling service? I suggest you use it if you do. If it makes you feel any better I'm currently off sick having been asualted and had my neck dislocated by a patient. My managers response? A phone call to tell me he's disappointed with my sickness record! NHS managers are the same warm and caring individuals no matter where you work!

You'll be fine I'm sure.

Don't go back there. Reading the thread, you seem to have worked through that stage once (well done ) - you just need to get back to the positive frame of mind where you know you're going to get this sorted out one way or another.

It may turn out to be one person's word against the other's, but you still shouldn't be victimised for it. What's happening on the police side of things? At least this will go down against his 'record' which can't be a bad thing.

Stay positive - and go diving
