Wasn't there some kind of electronic machine gun with a fire rate in the stupids of thousands per minute - Fire Storm or something?

Wouldn't leave much for the fur hat though.

Sorry to hear about the chickens.

Vermin control is often a necessity, unfortunately. Should always be done in an efficient, effective responsible and humane way - which a 12 bore probably is, while a pack of hounds isn't.

Wouldn't waste your time sitting up tonight though - it's not coming back if there are no chickens left. Probably the best time to lie in wait is Bin Day.

The neighbours may object as 7.62 rounds pepper their shed and greenhouse. And the hat would let the rain through.

I used to be the proud owner of a Spaz 12 semi auto magazine shot gun until the police took it from me along with

9mm browning HP
9mm Taurus (barrette copy)
and my .357 desert eagle

now i don't even have a BB gun

My wife used to keep chickens and the run was probably proof against anything short of WW3 by the time we finished. My brother has a fox trap in the garden and removes several a year from circulation that fancy his wife's chickens.

I fear waiting up for it could be a long and lonely vigil. The last thousand years has trained foxes to know that their one natural enemy is man. Thanks to Darwin this is now built in and their noses are excellent. Hence the urine trick works.

As has been said, the 12 bore will be quick and humane, with the right load.
Much more so than dogs or poison.

Trapping and releasing miles away is a no no, cos it's illegal to release vermin into the wild, unless someone wants it as a pet

Yep.

[SERIOUS HAT ON]
Anyone that eats meat should, as part of their responsibility to what they are eating, kill, gut and butcher something at least once in their lives rather than assuming that "beef" is something that runs around in little cling-filmed trays. If school kids had to do this as part of their understanding of things, then people would be, I reckon, far more responsible about their food. Like whathisname- Gordon Ramsay. Showed his kids where pork came from, all about good animal hudbandry etc. That's how meat eaters should do things.
[SERIOUS HAT OFF]
