I was told that unshod they can get a better grip on the road surface and they do not slip as much. Keep our pony unshod but she is playing at being a lazy bugger in the field all year and is not out on the road.

pretty gruesome pic though. Was never sure why anyone would want to eat horse meat but then I am a 'wussy' girlie
