| Mountain Biking Tech1 Course Basically i've just started to get into my mountain biking in a serious way, and having been going through the new forest for the last couple of months and starting to push my ability's, it has led to numerous "accidents" basically me making a d**k of myself! So i was wondering if any other YD'ers are into this and whether or not they know of courses that a run for gaining more technical experience on bikes? Cheers Chris Middleton

| Yep, I've started heading out into Swinley Forest (just outside Bracknell) with SWMBO - though she's currently off biking after she managed to launch airborne into a tree on a fast downhill section & knacker her left shoulder (trip to A&E, 3 weeks in a sling....). No idea about training though - I'm just getting more adventurous as my experience builds - the mrs has done a lot more stuff like trips round iceland etc. so is (mostly) showing me the ropes. Kinda like my dive "training" really |

| Missus Woz had mountainbike lessons for her birthday. Somewhere up near Barnsley and they do 3 levels depending on ability.

| Cheers guys, Ainsleyberryman - if you fancy a ride and your down south then yeah let me know and can head out in to the forest!! can't find any one down here thats into it so generally head off by myself!! As im a pikey freeloading student im always free and generally head out mid week, as that way the park rangers are busy and aren't around to catch me going off track!! Chris Middleton

| Ahh, mountain biking - my true love... even more so than diving! * waits for the red blobbing to stop * Making a d*ck of yourself is part of the reason I like Mountain Biking... The best thing you can do is just ride more and keep pushing yourself. But make sure you're not one of those people who pushes too hard, crashes really badly and is put off mountain biking. Working up to things a step at a time, and don't expect miracles. It really helped me to join a club so I could ride with people that are better than me. If you haven't done this already - do it now! It especially helps if you're blindly following down a trail you don't know well - you'll probably find yourself doing drops that you didn't realise you were capable of! As far as training is concerned - you could take a look at: http://www.cycleactive.co.uk/ They do training holidays in the UK or nice sunny locations! I know a guy that did a quick course with them at a recent Merida marathon event, and was pretty impressed. Tom |

we have some great mountain biking around barnsley ! and that is for bikers of every ability ! when i mountain bike we do some very technical descents around the derwent and ladybower in derbyshire ! but i must admit i do like the trans pennine trail which goes from east to west ! good luck with biking just take care with anything more the cross country as the minute u start to do rough terrain ! u will need a bike with a good susspension sytem to handle the knocks ! good luck with it anyway and always remember, as in diving try not to bike past ur ability or u will find ur self face down in a puddle lol!!!! best wishes leigh |
