Drinking Culture

Last night Jayne & I were involved in an incident in Leeds City Centre that's put us off going there again for a while.

It was my leaving do from work yesterday, and we'd had quite a few drinks to know we weren't sober so we decided to go for the last train home. We passed a group of lads who we thought were mates. Next thing we know a young kid's been felled by a punch & is lying unconcious on the pavement. We & another couple ran over, by which time he'd come round, but had bleeding wound to his head, so we gave what first aid we could & I called for an ambulance.

Jayne's comforting this kid, and he's bleeding over hands & coat sleeves, so what happens? His mates starting giving us grief to leave him alone!! Fortunatley the police arrive fairly quickly & take over. (We did get a drunken apology at the end from his mates).

To cap it all the kid refused treatment from the paramedics so they wouldn't take him to casualty. We must have looked a right state in the train station, half p****d & covered in blood. I just hope the young lad is OK this morning & all he's suffering with is a headache.

Think I'd prefer to avoid the city centre in future.

Richard

Unhappy

it's one of the many reasons I tend not to do any drinking in public. Although involved in a work capacity, I watched a guy stab another guy in the eye once - both pissed. The resulting fight ended up being between 80-100 people, and the urgent assistance call seemed to go on forever. I have never seen so many coppers in one place at the same time, and all of us were fighting our own little battles. A mate of mine nearly got strangled, and someone else got a kneecap smashed.

All because a bunch of drunken wankers got lary about not being let into a club as they were too drunk. Alcohol + young chopsy lads= bad night out for everyone

Hi Richard,
Sorry to hear about your troubles!

I do enjoy going for a few drinks & a meal from time to time, It may seem sad but I much prefer a few drinks at home where I can choose the music I want, the nibbles & I want the movie I watch etc. without some Pi$$ed up Ar$e hole causing agro!

Dont let it spoil your nite outs

its a shame really but goin out aint wot it used to be and i am no longer comfortable in the company of total strangers when alcohol is present. Now when we go out we frequent a local casino loads of space no pushing at the bar strict door policy and no pissed up w**kers and the drinks are way cheaper!

I enjoy my local casino too, no limit holdem, £10 entry +£1 for the house, £10 rebuy for the first 90 mins, dont win much but the banter is great!!

And true no pi$$ heads allowed in!

ouch, well done for helping out but shame it was turned out to be a bad experience.

saw someone stabbed in the eye!?!

been to loads of places where afterwards have been told I was lucky to be alive. in general not much problems.

where i used to live, regular raids with cops and usually 1-3 gunshots a night. street fights are common and sometimes spill out onto the streets, car chases, etc full works.

However, i get more scared usually walking by big groups of young drunk kids, simply because most of them just dont care about anything. scary. see more trouble coming from them than any other age group.

I have just got back from a hen night in Blackpool had a brilliant time without having a drink. The younger ones of the group just couldnt seem to accept that I was enjoying myself without a drink in my hand and they seemed like they were just in competition as to who could drink the quickest. Only reason I didnt stay over and have a drink was cos I am diving tomorrow.

Lots of stag and hen do's but none like us............a dozen witches complete with broomsticks and all having to do dares. To the very young gorgeous barman in Yates.............thank you !! ;-)

My first one was to go up to youngest barman and whisper saucy sweet nothings into his ear. He was a very good sport and retold what I had said and added even more!!...... to my witnesses!! Crikey my work colleagues will think I am some sort of wanton woman with what he told them. My other dare was to go up to any bald fella, get him on dance floor and dance while slowly and seductively stroking his head.
Thankfully none of my dares involved drinking like some of the others. lol
