There are some bloody brave people out there...

Guys/Girls.

I know that some of us on here sing the praises of those Armed Forces Personnel out in theatres of operations at the moment, and there are many who don't know what is going on.

This thread (at the time of posting) lists the citations from 3 medals for current operations. I take my hat off to their bravery...

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

I've read all of these now, and they are truly very brave. The 19 year old female medic deserves a special mention for being so young and being so brave in a non-fighting role.

However, it is this above that breaks my heart. I bet those little girls would swap the VC for their daddy.

my thoughts and prayers go all to service men and women and their loved ones during this appalling time.

some of you know my younger brother (Bootneck Brighty on YD) is serving with 45 commando in Afghanistan and they tragically lost 2 marines in the last 2 weeks - one from 45 commando (marine wigley) and one from 42 commando (marine watson).

Lou, you are absolutely right about swopping the VC for their Dad.
I would give anything to have Steven back home safe and sound right now.

I trained as a hostage negotiator earlier this year - the special forces always send someone on the course (it being international in nature).

I found out last week that the rep on our course was killed in Iraq at the end of November. He had returned there after being shot in the neck earlier during their posting there.

Now the govt obviously won't let anyone know about the casualties in the special forces, but it really brought home to me how bloody dangerous it is out there.

I couldn't do it.

Tell Steven to keep his head down and our thoughts are with him. Hats off to all our servicemen and women serving in the sh*t holes of this world may they all come home safe and sound with pockets full of money to go on the lash when they return.

The D.O.B. is here in Oman and we get a lot of the lads and lasses on R&R at the Embassy bar. This Wednesday they have a karayoke evening just for them (they asked for it!).
