| A few things to be careful of. Ryanair now allow you 15kg luggage allowance in total, 10kg of that can be hand luggage. If you want to check in a bag its about £3.50 per bag in advance or twice that at the airport (and you still only get 15kg). Its about £6/kg excess on top of that. Another thing that caught me out with Malta is there is actually an air exit tax which if you book flights online probably isnt including. It has to be paid in cash at the airport before you can leave. Cost is Lm25 (About £35) so isnt cheap. I flew out with Ryanair and came back with Thomson Fly last month. |

Sports allowance also gives you an extra 32kg (in addition to the above) for £15.50 per sector (much cheaper than risking paying excess) Quote:

| Seems odd. I was told by Ryanair on check-in its 15kg maximum up to 10kg of which can be in hand luggage (this at stanstead early november). Was also told sporting allowance does not include diving gear at the same time. As for exit tax, some airlines include it in ticket price (i believe air malta do). Thomsonfly definately dont and i dont think ryanair do either. Edit:- just checked ryanair site and prices are "excluding taxes". When it gives you the final total including taxes it has this on there as well for flights leaving malta. If you buy a package holiday its always included. FWIW thomson give 10kg diving allowance. |
