It was a difficult decision: how should we configure the kit? The dive in question was the Blue Boar in Hay On Wye, a dive, not in the watery sense but the sense of it being inhabited by all the sad, slightly over-the hill revellers in this small and isolated community.

As my friends arrived for pre-pub champers, I noticed that I must be doing it right, Paula had the same set-up. Stripey tie, black skirt but she had opted for the "pants on the outside of the fishnets" for decency's sake.

We splashed our way through the puddles and navigated successfully to the Blue Boar. Past the bus stop, and into the pub, there was still enough ambient light to make out the shape of the bar, we didn't need our torches. We found the gnome garden in one corner, someone had dressed the gnomes in amusing vicar and schoolgirl outfits and they looked droll and almost life-like huddled over their pints.

After an hour or two of mixing our liquids, we noticed that our reaction times were slowing and we decided to ascend to the dance floor at half a metre to de-saturate.

The trip to the exit point was beset with problems. I weaved through various and sundry vicars, some of their trim looking decidedly dodgy, some of them gesturing to the schoolgirls that their hoses were due to leak.

All in all it was a good trip. And as Frosty and Dude wanted photographic evidence of my rig.....
