The 305 and Garmin Training centre is notorious for duff calorie calculations If you're not using it already try the SportTracks plotter, it interfaces directly to the Garmin and I believe the calorie calculator in there is a lot better. I haven't tried it yet (I also use a 305) but I believe that SportsTracks can also be used to manually plot courses, the Google Earth interface is particularly nice.

abstension is quite easy, limitation is the key. not just for alcohol but for the whole diet thing.

if you deny yourself a pleasure you crave it more- teach the body to be able to limit itself. have 2 bits of chocolate rather than not have chocolate until you are at the weight you want to be.

I can stop drinking for months at a time the hard bit for me was limitingmyself to a pint etc a night for a long time ( I have a sneaky suspicion i was verging on alcoholic) now I can go out and have a pint and not want to continue throwing beer down my neck. I have the odd time where I will drink like a fish but these are less than the 1 or 2 pint days.

that said I have been dry from weekend to weekend and the weight is falling off me.

was 20.5 stone at christmas now down to 19.5 stone . cigarette free and eating healthy.

My running turns to shite when I have a drinkie or two so maybe that will be enough incentive....
Or maybe you should wait until the next day before attempting your long sunday run

Personally friday night is hit the gym hard and then back home for wine with food, or a few down the local (is something bigger isn't planned). I get drunk on 2 pints, so I'm a cheap date, and I haven't drunk enough to be hungover the next day. Awesome I say

Knee's hurting like hell today though

I've now seen my GP, and my blood pressure is not as bad as the Gym made out (OK, its still not good, but its not *that* bad!)

I've got the OK to get on with the Gym, and have re-booked my fitness assessment for tomorrow.

I've got an interactive Pedometer thingie (a freebie with my new Works Health Insurance) and using that, I'm trying to up my daily step-count... the only problem is that Yesterday, I did 3 hours of Ice Skating, but the pedometer hardly wracked any activity up (This is something I used to be good at... to National Level!) I also seem to have inherited the job of taking wifeys Dog for a walk each evening...

I've managed to lose about 1.5KG since last week, so things are looking up!

Andrew

Ok you lot are making me feel very guilty. Ive just got back from a week skiing in Les Arcs and feeling quite toned and fit. I think I need to get running again and get fit. Im thinking about going to the beach at scarborough today to go for a run.

current weight - 12.4 stone

but like someof you have been saying, weight for me isnt really an issue...its more about how i feel and what I look like.

good luck everyone..

Ax

Just got back from physio today and it appears that I may have a frozen shoulder. That's not at all good. Does anyone have any experience of this ailment? It certainly hurts when I run, even on sand so it's just exercise bike for now.
