Checked my resting heart rate when I first got up this morning as Kathy suggested and it was 56. A definite improvement from before Christmas when it was 69.

I think I'd boast about mine being 69 more though

Normal is 50-80ish right? I got clocked with 45 over the summer by the BHF, I think it's a little higher now though!

Anyway, hopefully the weather will hold up and it's portland for me this weekend, otherwise it's a very cold vobster Still either way I get to test out new lovely torch

I used to do a lot of cycling, 250 miles a week, I had a resting heart rate of 38. A friend in the cycling club I belonged to set up a video camera to record his heart rate monitor while he slept, his rate dropped to 28.
I to have been inspired by this thread, and got my bike out for the first time in 5yrs yesterday and went for a little spin. Managed 13 miles, but still felt like I had more in my legs. I'll go out again mid week and go for 20. Now in the last 5 yrs since I stopped cycling I've put on 5 stone so the aim is to lose 3 by the end of this year, and be able to cycling 100 miles again.

Well, I'm happy with it at 56. It was down to 53 a few years ago when I was very fit. If normal is 50-80 I can't see a problem.

Anyways, plan to do another 4 mile run tonight

I'd be pretty impressed if I got mine down to that kind of level. I have got it to 55 doing relaxation excersises but at the moment when I put the HRM on it seems to be around 68. I will try it first thing in the morning and see what that is.

Will go to the gym again tonight (I'm a wimp and don't like running in the dark!).

This thread is great at keeping me motivated

Edited to add that I did go to the gym. 3.2 miles on the treadmill this time in 30 mins because my calves are protesting after yesterday but a did few more weights.

I went for a run tonight in scarborough. Went from corner cafe to the spa and back. gonna work out how far it was in a minute, but i certainly feel better for it. I think the dog enjoyed it too!

Ax

edit : it was about 4 miles in about 40-45 mins

Well, Gary and myself did end up going out in the end. Was supposed to be having a night off but I'm going out for something to eat from work tomorrow so would have felt guilty not doing anything for 2 nights on the trot now that I have my motivation.

So just a short one at 3.68 miles in 35 minutes....bloody hard going again to start with cos of the wind...I felt like I was standing still at one point

Resting heartrate is currently coming in at 64 but haven't tried it first thing as yet...

Keep at it everyone

Kathy
