What I meant was that I prefer to focus on fitness rather than weight.

| Just keeping up the idea of fitness and maybe trying to persuade other people to get fit/lose weight. Last night I went for a run, I managed about 3 miles before I ran out of steam, seriously. The combined diet and exercise I am having to do is a little extreme. My 4th day of training on the trot, whilst dieting had to come to a final point. I did continue walking/jogging until I had clocked up 1.1/4 hours total. My heart rate never dropped when I stopped running as it was working overtime trying to burn fat to replenish the glycogen levels. As I eat enough of the essential minerals, salts and I am well watered I didn't collapse. I did sleep for about 12 hours afterwards. A quiet day today, 1 hour swim tonight, arms only to give my legs a rest. Am I losing weight, yes, too quickly really, but I need to so I can get to a weight that I can train properly at.

| LIDL's had some for £3.99 a few weeks ago (aww bless!). Argos is pretty cheap for them too. I'm not a HRM training fan but it does wonders for lots of people!

| Thanks for your responses. I'll pop into Exeter tomorrow and inverstigate. My understanding is that you generally have to work less hard than you thought you would when you use a HRM but maybe that's just wild optimism!

| Just been for my lunchtime walk... 1.33 miles in 20mins... walking pace a smidge under 4mph - calories used 173 okay... so it's not like some of you on here... but it's more than I did yesterday, and so much more than I have been doing. Also, no snacks, nibbles or the like, in between meals. It's bloody windy out there! My ears have started to ache because of the cold! Pete ![]()

| Here's the basics of HRM training: Heart Rate Training – The Basics - Runner's World General As I understand it, lots of people get the whole fat burning zone thing confused. Basically if you're running in the fat burning zone then you are burning fat at the most efficient rate possible (let's say 100%). When you bump up the pace and hit the cardio zone, you're still burning fat just not as efficiently (let's say 75%). What is not often considered is that you're burning more energy when you're training harder so,
I think training in the fat burning zone is good when you start off however as you don't have the fitness to do a long cardio workout so,
That's how I see it anyways Lloyd PS Quote:
