You know you want to.

I am too big for long distance really, I should be concentrating on distances up to 400m realistically. But, I have a lot of stamina so I can do longer distances slowly.

I am the slowest in my club at long runs and one of the fastest at speed work!

OK - you guys are inspiring me to get back to fitness :-)

I have been using my knee problem as a reason/excuse not to train for about 2 months but I am now faced with a sprint triathlon on Sunday, having done almost no run training and still with a dodgy knee. Still, if it's possible to run a marathon with a broken foot, I can run 3 miles with a dodgy knee!

So, sprint on Sunday then a bit of recovery time and some attempt to work out what the problem is with my knee and how to fix it. Two more sprints in June and July and an olympic distance in August (assuming I can run 10k again by then!).

Then I'll see you at the Cardiff half in October.... :-)

You can certainly lose your edge, I did over 4 weeks, I didn't stop training I had to change my training because of my foot.

I think they have cancelled the full Cardiff marathon this year - apparently there hasn't been enough support for it in the past. I have a couple of friends doing the one in Dublin instead but that's not exactly on the doorstep.

The official reason is that it will be difficult to get the road closures, etc, etc to fit in with the rugby world cup dates. Word on the mean streets of Cardiff is that they're not making enough money to make it worthwhile.

Personally I think it's terrible that the capital of Wales doesn't have its own Marathon, but there you go. A marathon was my big goal for this year (whereas it should really be a completed thesis ), now it looks like it's relegated to three half's in fairly quick sucesssion.

Good luck with the tri Cat

Isn't the Grizzly full, it usually fills within a week of opening. The only reason they moved it to September is because of the Napoli. I did it a couple of years ago, it is quite tough, but fun.

Duchy Marathon, March.
Cornish Marathon, mid November.
Tresco Marathon same day as London.
Nottingham marathon, September.
Paris marathon 1 week before London.
Munich Marathon, October.
New York Marathon, early November.
Bangkok Marathon, 3am, can't remember when it is, I just know they start at 3am as it the coolest time of day (night)

Well, after a week and a bit of not going to the Gym (missus was ill, so I was working from home, doing all the school runs/dads taxi duties and then visiting Mrsabucks in hospital, before carrying on with my daily work...) I've been back this week.

Yesterday, I did 18mins on the cross-trainer, followed by weights...
Today, 5.5km on the running machine, followed by the weights I didn't fit in yesterday...

and I've gone from just over 89kg, to 87kg... Woo hoo, at last, I've lost some weight! (Hope its not just because I was not snacking last week...)

Andrew
