When I lost 2 stone in 2002, sensibly through diet and exercise, I vowed I'd never put it back on again, so I am horrified to admit to myself that over a stone has crept back on in the last 18 months. It makes me very anxious and gives me low self esteem.

I have never had an easy relationship with food and I'm unfortunately one of these people who in times of great stress try to assert some control in my life by resorting to bulimia. It's irrational and I can't explain it, other than it isn't anything to do with weight, it's about regaining an element of control in your life when everything else is spiralling into sh1t around you.

Between 2003/2005 I had it quite badly, so perhaps the weight gain is more to do with my life getting back on track again in the last 18 months.

I have been quite surprised over the last few years to find out just how many outwardly strong, switched on, intelligent and apparently 'sorted' women I know have, in times of absolute crisis, resorted to sticking their fingers down their throats. Before anyone dismisses this as a hysterical girl thing, I'm not just talking about a bad hair day, I'm talking about times of real anguish.

EDIT: I should point out that I haven't posted about bulimia because I expect or want anyone to feel sorry for me (but thanks for some nice PMs peeps ). I am very pragmatic about the whole thing and it's only because I'm willing to admit to it that I have discovered so many other people who suffer from it. It really does have nothing to do with weight though - it's about circumstances beyond your control sending your life into chaos. Being in control of your body in an extreme way helps to make you feel that you are in charge of a part of your life. I like to be in charge!

If it helps when i met you last weekend in Abbs i definatley did not think you were overweight, myself on the other hand
Two stone off and i would be happy. Lost loads about 5 years ago(4 Stone) but it was hard work constantly watching what i ate and excercising in the extreme EVERY day, 8 Mile runs,40 Mile Bike rides, etc etc.
I got down to 14 Stone and everyone said i looked ill. I felt great but i was really thin 30 inch waist and a very gaunt face
Anyway i stopped running and riding and just ate what i wanted needless to say 3 years later i have put back on all the weight. I felt i looked right at about 16/17 Stone so if i can get back there without becoming a fitness nut again(I haven't got time) I'll be happy.

That's it though isn't it? It's about how you feel not how others perceive you. Right now if I could just feel the waistband of my old skinny jeans fastening again I'd be happy

Yaay! I've lost 2lb in my first week back at Slimming World

Curiously, I have had to make very little adjustment to my diet over the last seven days. I have sort of been following the SW eating plan for the last few years - it's obviously just those naughty little things that creep in that seem to make all the difference!

Well done with SW, you mentioned it at Eyemouth; even though you look like a slim young thing to me! Or is that compared to me? Now I'd better go out and do something about myself, as shock absorbers are extortionate
