| Well done Nick for getting this going again My weight on 1st January was 14st 7lb... this week I am mainly resisting chocolate Not an excuse, but finding time for exercise is my main issue. I'm up at 6am, sorting out the wee ones for nursery, then straight off to work by about 8.30 to 9ish; I work through lunch (always have, never seen the point in stopping when you can eat on the hoof) work until 5, then I'm on littlun duty until about 7.30ish when they (should) go to bed. Then it's time to prepare some form of tea for me and Mrs Doo who gets in about 7.30 to 8 (except if she's out with work) get bits and bobs sorted in the house for the next day (clothes ready for the little ones etc) by 9 o'clock I'm f**ked, the last thing I want to do then is exercise. Any suggestions Pete

| In Dec went for my annual check of bp and cholestral (have to have it checked due to a possible genetic heart condition), cholestral was always ok. However was shocked to learn that my "bad cholestral" had dramatically risen and i have six months to get it under control or have to go onto tablets, cannot remember what the tablets are called but remember reading a post on this site which seemed to indicate there was an issue with taking this particular type of pill and diving anyway good luck with your training Frosty and keep us updated

| My new year fitness thing got a boost when work announced that they were changing our Private medical to PruHealth, which includes Gym membership at less than half price! So, I've registered with all the freebies... I have an interactive Pedometer on my belt, that records how many steps I take each day, at Lunchtime I'm off to the gym for a fitness assessment (I can tell them the answer now... UNFIT!) I currently weigh 14 st, and am aiming to lose about a stone over the year. I'll keep everyone updated as I go.... So, do we give each other "mutual support" (ie. rip the p*ss) to "encourage" each of us to continue on this fitness regime? Andrew |

we DO take the little ones 'swimming' and do try to squeeze in the odd length or two(!), but with both of them still so small, getting a bit of quality swimming time in can be a problem. Thanks for your thoughts though! Pete

| Since Christmas Eve I have been for a run every other day, including Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and some days in between. I am now up to 3.5miles a time and running faster than I was. Some of the days I haven't been for a run I have been walking or diving. I have really watched my diet. I haven't touched alcohol since 1 January 2007. I also haven't replaced the alcohol with anything fattening and I am not eating more either. Have I lost weight? Have I sh1te! I am feeling a bit more toned, and I will persevere because I know it will work in the end..but bejeezus I'm pi$$ed off!

| My fitness has been gradually on the slide for a few years, even thought I run with the local club every week and play badminton every week. On return from my recent holiday I had a phone call telling me I'm in the London Marathon for the 4th year in a row! For some reason it never triggered a reaction last year, probably due to injuries. This year I am uninjured and set up my exercise regime. Monday - Badminton 2 hours, Nightclub dancing 1 hour min (easy it R&B) Tuesday - speedwork at the local track Wednesday - run with the club min 1.1/4 hours (tempo) Thursday - swim 1 hour Friday - diving, Nightclub dancing 2 hour min (fast it's hard trance) Saturday - Diving Sunday - long run (min 1.1/2 hours, as long as it doesn't get in the way of diving) followed by diving I have also put myself on a strict diet. Very strict to start as body fat is easy to burn when you have more of it. I will then need to raise my calorific intake as my level of training increase. Some people might say I should be running more, 3 times a week is a minimum, previous injuries have come from running so I need to do the minimum and cross-train to get any improvement in fitness.
