A genuine night off

After 3 months and 1 week I actually have a night off.

My sister is down and taking mum and dad out to a concert for the evening so I KNOW the phone won't ring.

I've just eaten some of mums homemade apple crumble and I am going to put something nice and smelly in the bath and stay there for about 2 hours with a good book.

I'm almost at a loss as to what to do with myself!!!!

Even when I've been away from home over night I have still spent the evening worrying about whether mum is coping. Tonight I can rest easy, any crisis will be dealt with my big sister. I am devoid of responsibility for one evening.

Right I'm off now guys. I'll see you when I'm wrinkly like a prune from too long in the bath!

PS Trying hard to resist the temptation to text my sister and make sure - the taxi turned up, it was a wheelchair one, the taxi driver knew how to operate the ramp, dads not too cold, mums not stressing, they've arrived at the venue, the return home taxi has turned up...................!!!!

I'm so glad I didn't spot this last night. I can just hear that little devil in my head saying, "Go on, ring her!"

Are you out of the bath yet ? You can't log it as a dive you know, no matter how long you stay there!

Glad to see you got a night off though, you certainly deserve one...

Old habits die hard and I did take the mobile in the bath with me (just in case says the little voice in my head!!)

Was in there for about 2 hours with a rather good book!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed your christmas pressies, you sounded a lot more chilled today than you have in a long time.

As others have said , you cannot log it as a dive though.

Erm - just as a matter of interest - I have been down to Mum and Dads numerous times over the past 3 months and 1 week and therefore Katherine has not been 'on duty' for that entire length of time. When I am down there I make certain that she is 'relieved' of her duties it's just that until now she's not opted to make good use of her 'time off!'
And for those of you who wish you had phoned her - you have no idea how many times throughout the night I did think about texting her but decided not to bother and to leave her alone.
And finally, whilst ever she continues to have nights off and use the bath rather than the shower at least it means the bath is empty when I get there and not full of her diving gear!!
