Best sunsets/ sunrises I have ever seen were from rig's in the North Sea east of Shetland, back in the early 80's. In late summer, you could be up on the helideck, at 3 am in the morning, and watch the sun dip below the horizon for all of 20 minutes, before coming back up ! And the 'texture' and colour of the light was 'weird' (I could'nt spell ereathreal or whatever).

Absolutely fantastic. But outdone by the Northern Lights, on an exploration rig at 65.66 degrees North in the Norwegian sector

Returned from work at 0715 yesterday morning and went for a run. Whislt running through the village it was pretty miserable to say the least, however, when i got out past the village and into the country the sun was coming up over the distant Sandwich bay area. Beautifull. So off i motored with my ipod playing the Rolling Stones 40 licks and wind behind me. Then i turned around to run the 2 miles back and WHAMO! wind in my face, and i was struggling after a 10 hours shift. Still the run out was great!!
