Living/working in Dubai...
I might have the opportunity to go and head of a branch of our company in Dubai.

I'm all for it (having lived in Abu Dhabi as a kid) but the wife is a bit dubious.

Does anyone have and good sites about the expat life over there?

The gray fixing screws on the EDO 04 head look like cheap stuff bought at the local gardening store.
Well, it is cheap stuff and it comes almost from the local gardening store, but it works fine and it's very solid. We tried to destroy one by hitting it with a hammer... we succeeded but we really had to hit it hard - http://www.stde.ch/en/faq.php

Gavin,

I live in Abu Dhabi which has probably changed since you were a kid living out here and I'm pretty sure that Dubai certainly has. I spent quite a bit of time in Dubai, mainly for 'social' reasons' and whilst I prefer Abu Dhabi it's still a great pleace to live.

The expat life out here in the UAE is great (although I'm not sure some of the Indians etc would agree). I'll try and dig out some sites for you and if you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

I'm sure it has! I look at the photo's on Google earth and don't recognise it.

I used to live near to the Meridien hotel as well as having a villa in Sharjah.

When I left the "new" airport was just being built in Abu Dhabi.

2 Meridian Hotels now (both got some good bars) and airport is still not finished!

All I remember about the Meridian was that it had a Polynesian restaurant next to it where they did cocktails with dry ice in them.

Very cool when you are 10.
