Funnily enough, and I kid you not, I met someone who did the same thing about 10years ago. He was in the forces, did a parachute jump (not skydiving) and the chute failed to open and he landed in a tree. It made the national news. I met him haymaking on a friend's farm. Lots of cuts and bruises and not a single broken bone. Fancy that!

parachute instructor always said if the chute fails to open pick the biggest guy in the crowd or grab the grass!!

Imagine the crater mildog would leave if he did that I remember being told if the chute fails to open to raise left arm as high as you can this makes it easier for the lads to rob your watch.

I saw the footage on the TV last night. i have to say that the worst thing to happen would be to know you were about to die and not be able to do a sodding thing about it to either hurry it up or slow it down.

i was glad to hear in his interview that he would be jumping again as soon as he was fit. TBH, this is the sort of thing that happens so rarely, he is going to be safe for the rest of his days!
