| Recomendations required for short break near Plymout Hi all, My daughter (age 5) has just got over what our Doctor called the worst case of chickenpox he's ever seen. So I want to treat her (and us!) to a long weekend down near Plymouth in April sometime. We are looking to move down that way permenently soon, so this would be a good reccie trip as well. Looking for somewhere very near the sea to the east of Plymouth. Has anyone stayed in a self catering/cottage style place in that area that they can recommend. I know I could Google, but you can't beat a personal recommendation (especially from a YDr!) Many thanks all Darren

| Coastguard Cottages, Mothecombe. Stunningly beautiful setting, right on the most unspoilt beach in the South West. They also have a load of other cottages too, all of an exceptionally high standard. I've been to the bosun's cottage too and it's lovely. Call the Flete Estate for details and bookings. It ain't cheap but it is stunning. If you go and don't agree with me then I'll let you kick me in the nuts. Holiday cottages in South Devon - seaside holiday - South West England - Flete Estate This is Wonwell beach on the other side of the Erme from Mothecombe. Probably my favourite spot in the whole of the UK. Just don't tell everyone about it. No facilities, no nothing. It's perfect and your 5 year old will love it to bits. At high tide only King's and Mothecombe Private can be used but in between tides Mothecombe Public and Wonwell are great. ![]()

| Oh and don't on any account try a sneaky shore dive off Mothecombe Private as there are some protected bronze age wrecks there.
