| I watched that too. Sounded like a good arguement with plenty of data backing it up. I wonder if they were going global warming mad in the year 1000 when it was warmer than it is now?

I was particularly impressed by, for example, one scientists fight to get his name removed from a report because he had resigned because he didn't agree with what the report actually said (when compared to the data and its original wording). I'm sure it'll be on again. I still want a solar panel on my roof .......... my Mum's got one and it churns out hot water even in winter.

It's really quite interesting stuff (honest ), but more interesting is the way in which governments claim that they want to help, but actually that wouldn't work out for them. For example, heavily subsidise solar panels, ban all production/imports of incandescent lightbulbs, make the "public" transport system so ridiculously cheap that you'd be stoopid to use a car to travel within the cities. Oh well Lloyd

| Sorry Big Si you just beat me to it. I remember when I was a lad in the 70's the big scare was that the world was going into a new ice age, then all of a sudden we were not going to freeze to death but burn to death. Greenland had a sustanable climate 1000 years ago, settlers from Iceland had communities in the South of Greenland, these faded at the start of the mini ice age during the 14th-19th century. Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about, we are in a warm, interglacial period, the climate is meant to get warmer. Last edited by StephM : 09-03-07 at 02:52 PM. |

| Did we all get the bit where Maggie was to blame --- Well she wanted to crush the miners as they booted out a previous Tory Govt and she wasnt going to have that happen to her (or her Govt), so one way was to go nucleur for our energy, but how to 'sell' it to Joe Public, easy, CO2 bad stuff produced by power stations burning oil or coal. Hey presto lets not use coal as its a BAD thing, in one swoop we get to reduce the coal monopoly and crush the miners. Why let the facts get in the way of a Govt scheme, trouble is its still being believed and as the programme showed quite clearly last night, the sun warms the earth, and about 500 yrs later the seas get warm as they are a bit on the large side to rapidly heat up and they produce extra CO2, which is exactly the situation we have now, the seas dont get warm because of teh CO2 the CO2 gets produced because the seas are getting warmer (again). Oh yeah and the temp in the upper atmosphere hasnt changed one jot, which if the CO2 is a blanket is just a tad hard to swallow if the current (incorrect?) theories are to be believed. Matt |
