| no, they are called 0ranges as originally there was only one sort - i.e. no range. Or because they don't work well as ballistic missiles. Or possibly because they belonged to someone else, possibly a Lady by the name of Angela, who shortened her name to Ange. (no, I don't know either, but apparently they aren't the only fruit.)

| from Wiki The colour is named after the orange fruit. Before this was introduced to the English-speaking world, the colour was referred to (in Old English) as geoluhread, which translates into Modern English variously as yellow-red, yellowred, or yellored (all pronounced the same). Note to my boss, give me more work to do

| And what about lemon, peach, aubergine, manderine. Are all these fruits named after the colour they are? Pink wine is called rose, after a rose Is brown named after Newcastle Brown?

| Curious: English Orange fruit is same word for orange colour Same for Portuguese: Laranja : Laranja Same for Hungarian: Narancs : Narancs Same for France: Orange : Orangé Same for Spanish: naranja : naranja Those are for the languages I know. Now which came first i don't know. Could it be from Orange county in South Africa? Actually a natural orange is not that orange. the ones in Africa were more like green apparently (I'm colour blind)

| *** random fact alert *** I don't know about the Orange question, but I do know why the colour isn't called "carrot": Carrots where originally either purple or white. The Dutch created the orange carrot as a publicity stunt in the 18th / 19th century. I thanks you. My coat? So kind...
