Car problem-advice needed

Mrs sean's car is sounding poorly. It's fine when it's going in a staight line, but when you go round corners (doesn't matter left or right) it make a clickin kinda sound that seems to come from the front wheels area.

I am a decent engineer so i'd like to sort it without goin to the expense of the garage this time 'cos i have too much expense this month as it is (new soffits and gutterin, and knob head soffit man put both his knees through my conservatory roof-tw4t)

Its a renault megane scenic 1.6 petrol on a 51 plate and just passed it's mot

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

Thanks friendlies

If it's front wheel drive , then it's probably the cv joint thats shot, depending on the type of front suspension alters the amount of work to replace ,not that difficult but messy.French motors never seem to go easy with me though.

This does sound like the cv joint, does it make more noise when turning left or right, from what I can remember they make more noise when unloaded for some strange reason. Try
partco.co.uk they will probably charge a deposit on the new ones, as they are enchange, I would say probably £100 to 150 each.
Hope this helps
Roger

I've got a 53 renault laguna that's just failed its MOT for excessively worn track rod ends (FFS - it's only 3 years old and 30,000 miles ) It was making the same sort of noises just prior to getting them changed.

oh well, last time I got a recon unit, it cost me £100, but it was 4 a ford. I suppose if u just get the cv joint rather than a recon shaft it would be cheaper, but arnt there two ?.
