Help! Engineer needed

When I fitted a new oil filter on my bike at the weekend I managed to strip the threads on one of the fixing bolts.

It is a M8 allen screw about 100mm long and is threaded into the alloy engine casing.

What options do I have to get this fixed?
Who can I take it to in the leeds Area?

You should be able to get the thread 'helicoiled' that is drilled larger and tapped with a thread insert that will screw into the engine casting and you then screw your bolt into it, bit like a Rawlplug. Any decent engineering outfit should be able to help, call the local dealer and ask them for a recommendation. Only slight issue will be if there isnt enough meat in the casing to take the helicoil.

You don't want an engineer. You want a mechanic.

Anyway. You have 2 options:
Helicoil to reshape the original thread.
Drill it out and retap M10.
