As kindly pointed out by Brian R in a PM beware of what you download and open! Scan everything first for viruses etc.

Went round to my cousins for a meal and drinks last night. We have pretty similar tastes in music ........ although he's not particularly into the heavier music but .........

Anyway, I digress, he put me onto a web site called Lime Wire » Home which is a P2P set up where you can access, for example, other people's music collections on line ............... wow, there is stuff out there that I hadn't even imagined ................ some of the people that have covered Stairway To Heaven for example ..........Jimi Hendrix for one .............. Pink Floyd ...........

Anyhow, now (Sun night) I have just downloaded the software and am about to go searching.

As a result of last night's LimeWire exploits I remembered that I have been trying to track down a jazz musician's version of S to H and thought his surname was Jordan? About 20 years ago I worked in Soho and the pub across the road had bands and I was in there most lunch times and got talking to the landlord (into jazz) and .............. I ended up with a tape (now lost).

So I had a quick search and found him (Stanley Jordan) and, furthermore, I could view him on YouTube!!! Awesome guitar technique.

Anyway, LimeWire - give it a try - from what I saw last night it is a fantastic source + it's free.

IF you must go for free DL's go with News Groups, its all one way traffic....

LimeWire doesn't seem to work with my current security settings and I am reluctant to lower my defences.

I'll have to ponder this another time when it isn't so late.

I've been using Bearshare for yonks AND yonks ... uses the same Gnutella p2p that Limeware does. Spawn One's been using Limeware for a few years now too.

There's many delights on it hiding amongst the viruses and porn!

Keep your virus checker up to date and scan everything coming in and you'll be fine

alternatively go to somewhere like legalsounds.com and pay $1.08 for the current no. 1 album.

Much easier to find what you want, faster downloads, better quality and I've not found any viruses so far.

Whilst it's not strictly legit, uk copyright law excludes downloads for personal use so you're unlikely to get nicked unless you distribute it

A particularly good piece of software to go along with any p2p/ torrent software is
'Peerguardian' (search on google)

This sits between your P2P software and the internet (in simple terms) and refuses connections from the IP addresses known govt agencies, MPAA & Riaa snoopers and other people intent on ruining your fun.

Cant hurt.
