ZXR 750 twin cylinder!!!!

i had a gpx 600 that fired on 3 cylinders.
turned out to be pulse sender unit (sends pulse of electric to coil then depending on which stroke engine is on coil sends to correct plug)

sorry about termanoligy used as cant remember correct names of engine bits

mmm...could be worth looking at, but i always thought that mine using a "waisted spark" where one coils sparks numbers 1 &3 and the other 2&4, if number 2 fires then number 4 should also??? I could be totally wrong mind

If there are only two coils then the bike does indeed use wasted spark. The spark is 'wasted' as when, for example, cylinder 2 is firing, cylinder 4 also has a spark at the end of it's exhaust stroke. If the leads are long enough, you could try swapping the caps on cylinders 1 & 3, and 2 & 4

As you mentioned though, you are getting a spark on the leads of the cylinders that aren't running.

Are the carb jets clean on the non firing pots, after 18months the additives may have solidified inside the carbs, they did on my CX, so although you have fuel getting to the carb its not actually being atomised.

Just an idea hon, but would sugar in the tank cause this problem




only joking, keep up the good work or break the dinosaur and get a new one...PLEASE. (Not sure whether i prefer dive kit or carbs on the kitchen table.) xxx
