Ah happy memories. Memories of hot sunny days, roasting in the old folks Mk3 Cortina, in the tail backs on the A64 past York (where it went to two lanes at Strensall) listening to DLT playing double top. For some reason no matter what the weather was doing, on the drive up the A1074, Stamford Bridge was always flooded. Weired how my memories are of the A64 past York, then on the A1074, which turns off before you got to the end of the York bypass... ????
Stamford Bridge mmm Needs a new bridge not that single cart horse thing they have. One of the real pains about dragging a RIB to Bridlington and getting stuck there on the way back on a summers weekend. I dont think it floods as much as it used to do.

Just needs a flyover and dual carriage way going through the town.

Gary

Has anyone seen the Leeds Armouries at all? We have an exhibition up there at the moment, and with all the works going on outside it, curious to see if it flooded!

Not this morning, no - I work around the corner from there but given how long it took me to get home last night with only 1 road into our village passable I'm working from home today!

The inlaws were baby sitting yesterday afternoon and it took them 5 hours to get from Barnsley back home to Sheffield ... and they still don't have any power from last night

They closed the bridge for 4 months for repairs, and it only opened a month or so back.

I went over it last night and they've done sod all apart from resurface it.

Still traffic lights and still single track. What a waste of money!

They should just bypass stamford bridge once and for all.

I agree, I was expecting a new bridge for 4 months of disruption. Just some new tarmac that could have been done in a couple of days.

Used to like to stop there on the way back from Brid but now you cant park anywhere.

Yes needs a bypass urgently.

Hmmm.

Set off from Wakefield yesterday at just before 1pm, arrived at Aldbrough near Hornsea 10.45 pm, after doing over 170 miles.

Normally takes about 75mins and about 62 miles.

Took me over 5 hours to find a way out of Hull that was not flooded, never mind the B roads which were in part 3ft under water, it was only the sailing practice I had on the M62 / A63 that gave me the confidence to attempt it, that and being a trained diver with breath holding skills .

Bring it on!.
