Help me to clean a Helmet

Ok knowing that the YD massivie is a store of esoteric information i thought i would seek your help.

Yesterday, for reasons that i shall not go into, i quite specatually but 'accidently' threw a mug of coffee over one of my staff. While i managed to miss the lap top i did seem to hit everything else including his helmet. Now before the jokes come pouring in i'm refering to his motor cycle helmet. It now, not supprisingly, smells of coffee and i'm feeling a little bit guilty. Does any one know what i can do to get his helmet cleaned?

Are you sure the motorcycle helmet is safe to use?

I seem dropping them on the floor can be a no no depending on the type. while doing my motorbike training a couple of years back. I think this was due to the design of helmets to be a "single use item" aka use it till you fall off/get hit.

Luckily it was only the contents of the cup (which was a starbucks style paper cup) not anything hard that hit the helmet - that landed on his other helmet if you follow

It doesn't sound like the helmet was knocked off or anything, just had coffee spilt over/into it.
You can buy proper helmet cleaning kits from bike shops, it is sort of like a mousse that you put in the helmet lining, and after a ferw minutes you wash or wipe it off depending on its type.

This is probably the best way to go... if you buy him the bottle of stuff then he can clean it up nicely.

Alternatively buy a "Magic Tree" and hang it inside if you want to have a laugh before you give him the cleaning kit

Magic Tree. As a sign of good faith, a mini visor wiper.

Or a bottle of 'RainX' (any motorcyclists who haven't discovered this stuff, you don't know what you're missing!).

Gerbil,
Lots of helmets have removable and washable linings these days, if not the spray on foam cleaner is good I use it on mine, actually smells quite fresh afterwards
