What plantlife is this?

I am rather puzzled by what I have growing in this pot. I have lost the marker I put in the pot. It could be an apple, avocado, peach tree, or something else. I have searched through my plant encyclopedia and did not match.
Any ideas really appreciated.

The gravel is 7-10mm and freshly laid this afternoon. More diving points gained

It's not any of the first three things you list. Looks most like a member of the brassica family to me.

I agree with tom, when I first looked at it I thought of Brussel sprouts but then thought who would plant Brussel sprouts in a pot so I discounted it.
Then thought of sunflower but leaves are not right plus it would have gone over by now.

From the list I would say Advocado. Certainly not pear or apple- Neither sunflower, a Brassica... doesn't look like it. Let it grow and send another pictures in a week or two. A great help will be a picture of the flower.
