Ants in his pants?

Whilst trying to remember the name of a book I read as a child a startling thought occured to me. Then I tried to find the book on the internet and it wasn't there (that I could find) or I have got the name wrong.

I believe the book was called "Rufa the Wood Ant". Does anyone know of the book or its correct title. I think the basic plot was of some children who were shrunk down to the size of ants and they get to see how the ants in the nest under their backdoor step live, or something like that.

The startling thought that occured to me? Well, ladies, I recommend you look out for men with ants in their pants before dating as they must be in possession of a substantial woody(ie?).

I searched Google for the title, 'children's story book about a wood ant' etc with no joy. At least I know where the author got the name for his hero ant.

No, not them.

Just had a stroke of genius. I just Googled for "out of print children's books" and found a few sites and then found:-

Palmer, Ray RUFA THE WOOD ANT
London: Thomas Nelson & Sons, 1940. Illustrated by Parker, W. Neave. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo Dust jacket edge-worn with a few small chips, lightly toned, not price-clipped, now protected in an archival sleeve. Contents clean and tight, no inscriptions, v. light spotting to end-papers. Superb b/w illustrations. A very good copy of this charming story, particularly rare with a dust jacket. A title in the Animals All series. (Book ref. 003622) £20.00
Offered for sale by Loe Books

Ray Palmer Rufa the Wood Ant
London: Nelson, 1940. Illustrated by W. Neave Parker. First Edition. Red Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 5" x 8" Hardback Some light soiling. Faint inscription on front endpaper. Superb illustrations. (Book ref. 020286) £15.00
Offered for sale by Bosco Books

Now all I've got to do is find my book.
