| I've found young lads don't want to work anymore let alone learn they want the £500 a day jobs straight away for doing feck all. I've come to the decision i will not take on apprentices any more it's far too much hassle and grief i've tried out 5 now the longest one lasted was 6 weeks before deciding it was far to much like hard work and he was too tired to hang around on the street corner with his mates after work. I've now got an old guy 59 i think he is a fitter by trade but was made redundant and really struggling to get work because of his age. He's fantastic never late does a good days work if he makes a mistake which we all do occasionally (obviously not me) he owns up to it instead of trying to hide it then denying he was even there and wants to learn how to avoid it next time. From now on this is the type of guy i'll be hiring he has paid for himself this year already with the quantity and quality of work he's put in he's got a big bonus coming at christmas (i've never felt i needed to pay someone extra before) . Fcuk the young scrotes keep your eyes out for older people who can't get work again because of age

define old I am 35 and most of the above happened in the electrical apprenticeship I did- chip and butty run was a good way of saving the pittance we got paid as apprentices. brewing up meant a 20 minute skive. no boss whiting but a Denso taping- the devils own jism to get rid of. broomhandles through the overall sleeves was another good one we have used. I beleive its called character building ( bullying by any other name really) but if you took it and got on without much complainiung youe were 'one of the lads' we had an apprentice 7 years ago who we did this to and he took it like a man, the new lot whinge and complain of 'human rights'. feckin labour have a lot to answer for. and yes I was bullied at school so I do understand.

| Ho Ho Ho. I worked for the late Hitachi Seiki, can drive a Haas, most things with a Fanuc on the front, plus others although I hate Mazak CMS. I used to be able to drive a manual but that was a long time ago, think decades. You will find my signature in most of the (ex-Hitachi) Seiki Systems Ltd. software. However these days I have a nice office and I hope to stay at the same desk with a nice view of the pier until I retire. I'm not going back on anybody's shop floor partly because I'm too expensive now. I don't know anybody under 40 that seems to be able to cut metal. It seems to be a dieing art. I can't see why not because there's nothing really complex - just attention to detail. |

i forgot the old Denso tape the only cure was sand to remove that loveley gluey grease best used on the sprogs on a hot sunny day when the rolls had been in the steel container for a while
