Thumbs up My speed camera is better than yours!!

Well this was certainly a victory for the menials. The following was on todays news and must have made the police cringe to know someones technology was far superior than theirs. Maybe it'll set the ball rolling for more people to prove speeding cameras wrong, provising they have similar kit. Mind you, if the Police are a bit keen they may well adopt the same technology to combat any future embarrassment! Good for him:-

This is quite possibly terrible news. Once this device (similar to the flight loggers we glider pilots use) gets to the attention of our 'law makers' they'll be installing them in every car. Next thing you know, the device will be interrogated annually and all your trips analyzed against speed limit maps. Bingo - everytime you've ever driven too fast will be listed out and 4,390 points, £6000 worth of fines will be awarded.

Of course, the justification will be, "You've got nothing to worry about if you haven't broken the law"

I think that you hit the point on the head, if don't break the speed limit you can't get caught.

with some minor mods set points could be added using the GPS system so the car can't go faster than the speed limit in the area, bingo, release all the police for other duties and scrap all the speed cameras.

No no no. The speed laws are ridiculous as they are set at a standard the worst drivers should be able to achieve.

FFS, on the rare occasion it is achievable (going fast) it is one of the few driving pleasures left.

Whilst you are at it why not have a similar widget implanted in everyone so you may be tracked all the time. Perhaps one will monitor "arse speed and direction" and inform the other half if you appear to be having sex or doing the Hokey Cokey.

TF I'll be dead soon. Perhaps I'll be monitored to confirm I'm not decomposing faster than the government prescribed rate?

Without doubt, the sort of tracking and monitoring mentioned is the future and, if world poverty is ever overcome. probably going to be a worldwide phenomenon. What a nightmare. Where could you go to be free?

Well done, that man.
I love the way they blame the officers retirement for not being able to prove their case. Absolute poppycock. If he was needed to give evidence to prove a bloody murder, they would have put him on the stand!

Actually that isn't true. Lots of cases of people contesting and being found not to be speeding and no doubt many people who dont contest and just pay up who have been similarly had.

In a tomorrow's world style.....I read a while ago about an insurance company doing a pay per mile policy where customers installed a data logger into the vehicle that uploaded usage, speed , position etc. and the premium was based on this.

Now to see if I can find the article I remember.

Suspect the market for GPS Jammers will go through the roof soon if that becomes widespread.
Especially the big-brother "castration car" with gps limiting.
