That's the irony really isn't it. With us males, attraction is at least initially, 90% physical - tell us she's gay and it won't phase us, many would view this as an opportunity rather than a threat.

Women are more emotionally connecting, so the thought of a potential beau batting for the other side just ruins it.

And we males know this and will always be able to pour cold water on the objects of your desire by playing the "he's gay" card, thereby introducing a bit of doubt into the equation. I've dropped that one on my wife, sister, office colleagues, it works every time. Even worked, momentarily on Sixy when she was drooling about Johny Depp (I think it was) back in our DN days.

It has rather; looks like we blokes have the field to ourselves. Well in that case......

Let me say that I didn't know much about her until last night, but it's obvious to me that Tanya is an attractive woman, a veritable English Rose, with classic looks and prodigious talents, both in her chosen field of endeavour and in the media, where I hope we'll continue to see her gracing our (well your) TV screens for many years to come.

Anything to add to that gents?

Richard - I guess that men view a woman being gay as being a challenge, and will try to 'fix' her, whilst women, on finding out that a bloke is gay will just shrug and carry on talking to him like a friend. He becomes automatically 'safe'.

Ratty - It would be a bit mean to continue being rude when we know that it will be read (TBH, I doubt that even if we knew that Tanya was reading it would have changed much) and it would be hypocritical to suddenly schlurrp round and retract what was said.
