Anyone skiied in Les Arcs?

Hi all,

Trying to organise a skiing trip. Les Arcs has been suggested and I've found some good deals. Just wondering if anyone has any experiemce there and can tell me whether it's a good resort? Any good points/ bad points?

Les arcs is a huge resort complex with 3 distinct areas at differing heights ...the resort itself is purpose built so dont expect alpine charm ... more like milton keanes! Although it does have everything you need.

the skiing is mostly motorway pistes with some realy chalenging stuff higher up .
Over all .... resort 5 / 10
Skiing 8 / 10

Would have to agree with Hazel .
2 other top purpose built resorts IMHO are La Plagne & Alpe'D'Heuz but I prefer Austria for the scenery

Have a look at rec.skiing.resorts.europe newsgroup. plenty of Les Arcs residents on there, they will tell you the better bits of the resort.

Les arcs now connects directly to La Plagne with the new cable car.

Check out the snowHeads forum: snowHeads :: global ski club, ski discussion forum, snowboard snow board.
They can be very handy with resort review and answering any questions.
I was fancying that area, but staying at Peisey Vallandry - practically the centre of the ski area of Les Arcs/La Plagne

I've stayed in La Plagne but we went over on the cable car twice to spend the day in Les Arcs. There were some excellent wide blues, a couple of not too bad reds and some nice off piste / through the woods runs. I liked it a lot. It's got something for everyone as far as skiing goes.

The hotels and chalets looked spread out so I'm not sure what the apres ski is like.
