| Bl**dy hell, I'd've been delighted with £45 a week when I was fourteen! That's waaay too much, isn't it? Does he have a Saturday job/paper round? If not, tell him to get one! £45!!! Can I come and live with you and be your daughter?

| My lad is 10 and gets £3 a week which seems to be an average rate. £45 sounds a lot.

| My 11yo daughter gets a £2/week flat rate, plus a performance-related bonus. Both the kids "earn" points for good stuff... sorting out the recycling, tidying their toys/homework/junk, helping round the house etc. with each point being worth 20p. Very occasionally, points can be deducted for bad behaviour, but I doubt they lose more than 1 point each per month... Andrew |

| My No 2 (17yo) gets $AU15 a week. (about UKP6.60). If he wants anymore, he can get off his arse, spend less time sh@gging and get a job, like I had too. 45 quid, that $AU102!!! I don't get that much to spend on myself in a week and it's about the same as No 1 son (19 yo) earns in a full day shift in the local supermarket deli section. He's having you on. Big time. Alternatively, as I'll be visiting the UK in 2009, can I be your "boy" for the month?

| I forgot to say he gets £2 per week now (for which he is expected to keep his room tidy, empty / fill the dishwasher, and clean the shoes - which he never does!), plus 50p per merit / -50p per demerit, plus negotiable value for extra chores like collecting leaves / washing cars etc. I do know of some kids who get £30 per month, but buy their own clothes. It seems I was correct in thinking he's trying it on! LOL, Paul |

| I'm seriously glad I don't have kids if you need to shell out £45 a week to them even if they get their own clothes!! I don't even spend that on myself (probably the reason for me looking like a Tramp!! Perhaps they're all saving up secretively and have an offshore bank account with loadsamoney in now.

| Got nothing for free, wash car, do gardens etc for any cash from my parents. I worked 30 hrs a week whilst I was in 6thform and continued through university, both days at the weekend and every night in the week! I did like to have money though, it did teach me that you dont get anything for free! (well apart from siphoning petrol for my 350LC out of my old mans Sierra) £45 a week, a swift back hand is what I would have had!! |
