We've been generating British war dead for decades. 1968 is the only year that a British serviceman has not died whilst on active service, since WWII.

I know the history of Remembrance day just posted the story because I thought it was funny. Not for one minute do I think the Germans shouldn't honour their dead from any conflict, it does show how hard so many of them try to forget WW11 though.

My first thoughts were: Did you say "Ha! In your face Hans.." - I admit I smiled..

Then of course sensibility naturally kicks in.

We all have (or heard) personal stories which we should continue to pass on to help future generations remember.

That should be 'personal accounts' rather than 'personal stories'? I don't mean to be picky but if they are called stories to begin with then I wonder how much credence they will be given in the future when somebody is reading this post in a few thousand years from now?

Will the horrors of the past prevent further conflicts? No! Will they prevent another global conflict? Probably not.

I only remember out of respect for what they did, in fact, had to do.

Nope.. I am happy with the word 'stories'. My grandad sat me down and told me what it was like as a child during the war. He told it to me just like a story - complete with actions and noises.
