WTD: some mobile phone advice..

All,

I am now out of contract with Vodafone (so continue on the rolling month by month thing). I would like a new smartphone - so I can run it as a PDA as well as a phone (looking at either the HTC tytn 2 (P4550) or the E-Ten x800). These however are not available on Vodafone at the moment - or certainly not in the unbranded guise..

So. I am thinking of getting a free upgrade on Vodafone and as soon as I've got it - selling it on to raise money for one of the two models I am interested in.

Only interested in Vodafone - or possibly O2 - as the other network's reception is crap where I live..


My question is: What are the most sought after phones at the moment? I would obviously like to get something that has a decent re-sale value.

I am thinking around the Sony Ericsson W880i / W910i, Nokia N95 as they seem popular and I can on a free upgrade..

So.. what do you think?

and if you find they won't give you the phone you want on the upgrade plan go through to cancellations - they are only too willing to give you it.

That's what I did when I wanted the Blackberry Curve and she told me I had to pay £95, enough though the website said it would be FREE, they reckon the website deals are for new customers.

I have the Nokia N95 on an O2 contract. I have to say it looks snazzy, does the job, and the camera is great. The only down side is that as it slides both ways, it does sometimes get confused. I like the way you can use the screen either way.

I was tempted to wait for the iphone, but as they were wanting to charge me money to have it, I decided to just have an ordinary phone. It picks up wireless connections, which means that I don't need to use my allowance to browse the net, I haven't tried it yet, but i should be able to log into my BT account at a hotspot on it.
How much it would be worth on resale? I have no idea.

No - not checked on ebay yet (as anything useful is blocked by the thought police here at work. I am convinced they steal the souls of small babies)..

There seems to be more N95's on eBay but all 3 phones you mention seem to be up around the £200 mark.

Of course another alternative - would be if someone knew where I could get either a HTC tytn 2 or ETen x800 for a sensible price..

(and possibly the moon on a stick ??? )

ah - no.. thats the 'tytn' - not the 'tytn 2'. thanks for looking though.
