| Thanks, Leigh. At the moment, she is still in the rescue centre. She was spayed the other day, and needs to keep a rather comical cone on a couple more days. We felt that Manta might be really worried by it (and she can't clean her bum either!). She is coming home on Tuesday.

| I picked Fizz up at lunchtine today (oh, how lucky I am to work at home!) and what an interesting afternoon I have had. Manta learned to hiss and growl. and has hissed and growled whenever Fizz has come within 6 feet of her. Fizz explored, cleaned, wee'd, ate and generally had a good time. Infact, she had such a good time that this is where she decided to explore..... ![]() Yep... that is the top of my curtain. Apologies for the quality of the pic, but I was too busy laughing.

They love it when you get them out of the cat rehoming place but they do tend to go a little bonkers for a while! Good Luck. Green on way.

| You're not wrong there! rescue centres are OK, but they aren't exaclty home! I had a lovely chat whilst I was doing the paperwork. Apparently, Fizz's previous owner didn't really care about her. They can tell, because she hadn't been wormed or de-flea'd, neutered or chipped (she is 8/9 months old) and worst of all she had no records of vaccinations. She should have had the first ones about 4/5 months ago. The reason her owner gave for giving her to the rescue centre was that she needed more space than there was in the flat she lived in. My guess is that at 8/9 months old, she has outgrown her cute 'kittenness' and is almost a cat. Nothing, of course, to do with having learned how to climb the curtains!

| she's gorgeous! people often ask me as i put their pet to sleep or after the sudden loss of a pet "is it right to go and get another one?" I always answer, if it feels right then it is right, but they cannot be a replacement, they have to be themselves. different people need to do different things, sometimes people want to leave a gap to grieve, sometimes people go and get a different colour, or breed, and sometimes the other pets make the decision for you... As you say if puff turns up then you have 3 cats, instead of one...not a problem! plus you've given a cat that needed a home a home, a great one by the sounds of things! |

| Scubee, Good to hear you have another cat! Very similar experience I had - lived in South Africa, and had 2 cats, one went missing and after a few months searching, adopted another from the local SPCA. I went to the Cat home, and had firmly decided on a siamese cat, but the staff there were keen to rehome a rather large but slender abyssinian looking cat. His name was "Brian" and he was approaching the max time allowed at the home, and was nearly due to be put to sleep. He must have known, and was trying his best, "talking" to all that went past. Needless to say, I could not resist, and took him home. He turned out to be a fine cat, very talkative, and loved socializing at the many summer braais we had. Sadly, he passed away some years ago, aged about 13. I have not had a cat since, but would love to get another. There is something just so rewarding having a cat investigating what I am doing, and generally passing comments on any new items I might bring home! Rob |
