We had a previous cat injected with everything he should have had, nearly killed him, he was the first one we had injected/wormed etc in all the time we have had cats (40 years). Maybe if you have a thorougbred it's more needed but I do think that a moggy is about as tuff as they come and generally fight off or dont suffer from stuff more 'delicate' breeds seem to. Or maybe we have just been lucky all these years.
Whatever, glad your new 'beast' is settling in, hope the other one settles down and they make friends.

Matt
I guess, matt that it is personal choice as to whether to get them vaccinated or not, but i think their point was that, combined with the reason for getting rid of an 8 month old kitten just seemed like Fizz had lost her appeal. The idea of them catching and dying from anything that i could have prevented, would make me feel really guilty.
Poor, thing - 24 hours on and she is still getting hissed at, but there hasn't been any domestic violence!

Rob - i do beleive that we don't choose cats, they choose us. The centre i got Fizz from, like many others, have a policy of not putting a healthy animal down, but they do rely on donations from people like me when we adopt.

All our cats have come via a rescue scheme, sometimes you get an Angel, sometimes a nutter, we have a nutter at the moment, not very bright either.
Still love him though.

Agree about the vaccination thing, very personal choice and one we have to live with so no-one else can make it for you. I think you are probably right re the dumping thing, tbh I dont much like kittens so we always get one about a year old if possible (or a bit older) which helps as generally the kittens are easy to get adopted.
Hope things settle down, but if it comes to it maybe the new one will have to go back if she gets too much stress

Having watched their behaviour for a couple of days, it seems as though we have a nutter. She is much livelier and still has the kittenish 'don't dangle that or i will play with it' and is climbing curtains - which neither of my two ever did. She willchase manta around until Manta has had enough who then stops, hisses, growls and there is a bit of a stand off until turns round and walks off - usually Manta.
Things are definitel calmer than they were on Tuesday, and there hasn't been any fights, just noise, so we are going ot be OK - i think !

Glad to hear Fizz and Manta are settling together. Don't worry too much about the hissing and stuff, my two do that and they're sisters! Sometimes it degenerates to fisticuffs and flying fur then the dog gets involved...total chaos .

Still hope Puff comes home soon, then you'll have armfuls of cats .

Susan.

George is 14 and still does that - don't try rewinding a reel when he's awake and in the vicinity either.

He's white with a brown tail, and often chases the tip for no apparent reason (when he's awake)

That one came from a rescue centre after being abused.

And she is truly psychotic. Love her to bits

Absolutely gorgeous!

I came home today to find my two happy as larry, playing with each others tails. No hissing, no growling. Not exactly snuggled up together either, but a huge improvement.

Whoo Hoo!
