Either that or he is actually dead and we have been taking the piss in the most innapropriate fashion.

I still think that if a bloke hasn't got a clue what he's doing, he needs to be given a bit of instruction, rather than taking the piss.... It's a bit like not telling Brad Pit he needs to get a haircut.
