| Personally, I reckon the boys have got it easy on this one. Same suit (give or take a couple of inches on the trousers) for all of em, girls get to go out shopping. I would be extremely surprised at any event where Black Tie is the done thing that anyone would object to half of the options in the Next catalogue. Obviously there are events where you need to make an impression, or where you need to make sure you're not going to cause a commotion by turning up in a dress above the knee, but that said even at events like that after a few hours most people have descended into a state of undress with bow ties hanging around the neck and handbags being danced around instead of carried by the laydees. All this said I've yet to ever notice much what any of the girls wear to these events, I find that the boys are far too busy having dick measuring contests over cufflinks and cumerbunds to notice much, and the girls are busy waffling about where they got the shoes to go with their dress. God, I remember thinking about what I wore when I went out. Those were the days. I remember insecurity. I can't remember quite how it goes now Digs. |
