Imported post Hi No you shouldn't. Sorry, but such a short time after a serious incident you won't be doing yourself any favours, and thats not really for your sake but think of your buddies who will have to sort you out, see you in pain, call the coastguard, deal with emergency services etc. I know the doctors advised that you shouldn't dive for a year but thats probably a bit overkill. A lot of the top technical divers get bends and then are diving weeks or months later but I guess it depends on the seriousness of the hit and how fit you are, whether you have a Pulmonary Shunt or not etc. How about visiting a proper diving doctor, get a proper diving physical, and then plan a 'comeback' properly and dive accordingly (restricted depths, nitrox on air tables). You'll feel different when you know for certain. Once your cleared you'll have peace of mind and your buddies will too. Much better than saying 'Oh I'll just do this one dive, but I might get another hit so get ready with the oxygen!!' (and thats if you admit the bend to yourself, remember, is this another case of 'denial') Kindest Regards WL

Imported post No Pete. I need someone to carry my gear and help me put it on. My daughter objects which I ask her. On a dive boat I`m in favour of womans lib. As long as they`ve done the dishes/ironing etc beforehand. (Edited by diving dude at 11:08 am on Feb. 3, 2003)

Imported post Pete, Don't get back inb the water till you've had medical clearance AND a pfo check mate. It's gotta be worth checking it out fully.

Imported post Pete you werent borna a diver and God willing you wont die a diver the bit in the middle is the bit you have been diving. Get over it and pull yourself together, if you dont and you get back in the water too soon you'll kill yourself and maybe a buddy as well as he/she tries to rescue you. Think of the grief that your family will suffer and all those that love you, none of us obviously come in to that category. Take care. Matt

Imported post I think I should be diving on this YD jaunt Which jaunt, I think I have missed it I dont think you should, did you not get bent before? Two bends inside a year is not so good, IMHO you should not go diving until you are medically cleared to do so, people die doing this sport, I for one do not want to be around a fatality, and I am sure no one else does either (Edited by darthmoll at 1:40 pm on Feb. 3, 2003)
