It wouldn't have been hard to find us if he really wanted to, and i have to say, that given what i knew about him, I wouldn't have put it past him to move from cyber threats to in the flesh ones.

It was a scary prospect, and I was not prepared to put anyone else at risk - particularly my son who was about 5 at the time.

I became very wary of revealing my identity to anyone on the web, and even now, sometimes when my real name appears in a thread it rings alarm bells.

i am sure there are worse cases than mine (I know of at least one which makes mine seem like nothing, but it isn't nice.

As someone once said, and others frequently repeat - it ain't big and it ain't clever. It is nasty.

Ok, I'm not a stalker, however, i did a little experiment and used info from your profile only (and not posts) to find out some info on you! I went to google and typed in your full name...There's quite a lot of hits, but probably the most disturbing is i went to BT.

Residential Numbers - The Phone Book from BT

From info on Google i found out what area you lived and typed that into BT on the advanced search page from the link above. Now you may be ex directory, i have no idea, but there were 17 people with the same name and initial in your area. Wouldn't take long to track you down, assuming you weren't ex directory.....(i'd advise you use another email address than the one in your profile. That was the biggest clue.)

I also did Howard and got one address.......

There is also another site, and i can't remember the name of it (Sixsquid might remember though), where you type in your name and all sorts of info comes up on you. There was one particular person (now ex YD) that used this info to hack emails etc.

be careful what info you give online. . . . . . . . .

The BT link took me to a search, i am ex directory, however, i didn't know how easy it was to find out my own mobile number
I am less worried about someone turning up on my doorstep these days - now that i have got a brilliant cast iron frying pan and a set of extremely sharp kitchen knives.... and I know how to use them

I had a female stalker for over a year
She would send emails to my office, come round to my home and office with gifts, leaving flowers on my car, kept calling me in the middle of the night, text messages

Security at my office where not happy with me because they thought I wanted her to come round and be a nuisance

Once when she came round to my home, I opened the door and she put her foot inside so that I could not close it

There were other things she did, but I won’t get into that …. use you imagination

I called the police to find out what I needed to do to get a restraining order, I then called her and told her that if she contacts me one more time I will have the order issued
I didn’t hear from her for 4 months and then she called me asking for forgiveness, which I was not willing to give
