| It's frightening what people do. I work for a solicitors and my surname is unusual. Because I sue people and things I hate giving out my name and am ex directory. If someone took offence to the work I did (and I used to repossess people's houses) it could've got me into trouble. I've two hotmail addresses. One is my name, the other isn't. I guess it's just a precaution. I don't mind people knowing my first name cos it's common enough, but with Sixy I guess it's an unusual name so it's wize to be cautious. As for the net. It's easy to find people. I think it was Garf was once looking for someone. Within half an hour I'd spoken to the guys mum AND got his new mobile number. Stevechesh said about doing a search on Scubee, that's just on basic Google and BT. However there are lots out there - all legal - and it's very easy to find someone's personal details. I do it as part of my job if they've skipped to avoid paying a debt. You don't need agents all the time to find these people. This is all information that's just there on the net if you know how to delve. Alternatively, change your name to John/Jane Smith or John/Jane Doe!!! ![]()

I had someone use a interesting alias on DAC, an intersting avater too come to think of it. Alas I think that person could be watching again I just think its sad. As for the ability to track someone down useing limited information. With an email address I can normally get to someones full address, Phone number...... Its unbeleivably easy and takes 10 min's..... Which is shocking. I never saw the need to hide my identity on the Net, I have nothing to hide, but now I can see why some people choose to use a alias. To late for me alas

| There is a person on here who systematically read everything I post. I found out by accident after viewing who was online and noticing they did this. Hi *waves* i know you will read this at some point too [edit] reason for me looking at who is online is me and hazel both use the farm PC and so cant use the "remember me" feature - if you dont stay on a self refreshing page YD actually kicks you off if you dont do anything on a single page after around 20 mins. I have written a long reply to something, pressed send only to find it has kicked you off while you were writing it! Very annoying! If you leave a seperate window on "who is online" it stops this from happening
