My ex, who introduced me to diving and YD, used to hang off your every word. God, all he did was talk about "Porg this, Porg that, Porg's had something published in Diver Magazine". You were all he talked about!!! This was all before I came in to YD. He's now an ex, but still comes on line occasionally, so probably won't appreciate me writing this. Hey ho. I think it's flattering that they want to read your words! I find myself reading some peoples comments more than others because some people talk a lot more sense than others, and you're one of them! God, now I sound like your stalker! I'm not, Helen! I promise!!! ![]()

| Hi Paul, Stalking, I understand, comes out of: inappropriate jealousy, Spite, vengefulness and of course just plain and simply prickness. All of these virtues are bad and only serve to show how nasty the stalker is and in the end, if your friends blame you, then they are as bad as the stalker and you are better off without them anyway! Now out on the street, one may have reason to be scared, but a cyberstalker is just a bloody coward and I think no one has ANYTHING to worry about. My most recent experience was the funniest actually! I was stalked and bullied by a moderator/owner of a web forum I mean that is like the ultimate stalker! This was a jealousy bound stalking. I guess I am not much help to you or others. But since today is a charitable day I am offering this comfort in hope it could be of use to you. |

| It depends why someone is reading all your words, Helen. If *he* (sorry, i am making an assumption) is interested, as hagen das suggests, then great, no problem, but I have heard of one or two instances on here when it wasn't as geinuine and innocent as that. I don't know if anyone reads my with a stalker view, but if they do and if it makes them happy, fine. Sad (because most of them are shite), but fine. There are people on YD whose posts I always read, usually because I know they will make me laugh

| I didn't realise some people had issues with this kind of thing. I understand now the reluctance for real names to appear in posts...I'll bear it in mind in the future when writing, although I don't think I've 'outed' someone I shouldn't in the past! I have a stalker too, but I think that's something to do with the fact I married her 10 years ago (sorry Ann |

| The whole cyber stalking thing can be quite serious. Some people I know on a large military forum had a huge issue with someone a few years back and the police were called. The lady concerned went as far as writing to the guy's CO and telling him what an awful man he was (he may well be). I moderate on mil-type forum and breaches of security of an operational nature are rare and dealt with swiftly, but some people don'e seem to care what they give away about themselves. A healthy shot across the bows is usually enough to remind people that the world can read what they publish. I have always been mildly careful with my ID and on things like Facebook, I am very careful about what I release (and have a habit of telling my mates to sort out their security - name address and phone number in one case Last edited by fishyheid : 19-12-07 at 02:13 PM.
