Hemmed in at Christmas?

It may be an age thing but I increasingly feel hemmed in by all that is popularly known as Christmas.

Sadly, the feeling of being hemmed in does not mean being trapped up a lady's skirt. After much pondering I think I have worked out the cause of my spatial discomfort; I believe I am suffering from Claustrophobia, or, more specifically, Santa Claustrophobia.

Oh well, Sunday night and only one present to get and perhaps I will feel free again?

All the shopping is done, the presents are wrapped and the tree is twinkling. Master Scubee is poorly so we had to call off the trip to the cinema but he will be better by Tuesday, i am sure!

the scubee family came for mince pies and presents yesterday so now I feel very christmassy.

We are just about to have our christmas dinner, the table is set for fourteen.

l have chrissy songs playing, everyone is boozing and getting merry.

We haven't had christmas dinner on christmas day for years, there's just too many people, so we have a buffet on the day.

spent the whole day tidying, cos SWMBO says 'I want the house tidy for christmas'

I don't think she was too impressed with best try to keep it tidy during the rest of the year then cos I ain't doing it next year, as a response.

well me and jim have exchanged gifts.now hes doin a trip to scotland to do what he calls "his duty"to the family.

what he really means is drinks with happychappy,go-cartin with his 2 best pals
and me to work every day till febuary,no rest for the wicked hay lol

My dad passed away earlier this month so christmas this year will be 'different'. Tommorow i'm heading south to be with family and will spend christmas morning in the pub with my bro toasting the old bugger. The family will then have a christmass meal with all the mashings. Every one has agreed to enjoy the day come what may; tears, laughter, arguments and all. He was a much loved stropy old goat but his approach to life was live it.

Christmass comes in many forms for each of us, and thats as it should be, but what ever you do make sure you enjoy it with a passion. Come out to play with all your shiny stuff and make sure you all have a safe diving year.

Christmas has always been a bit weird for me. For many years it was the only day off in the whole year my parents got as they ran their own business.

Close relatives - mum, dad......and thats it, my grandparents died when i was small and they lived hundreds of miles away so i harldly saw them either. The others are an uncle i have spoken to once in the past 20 years (last week it was too!), and then some distant rellies on my mums side. Living in a rural place your friends were a distance away, so....yeah, santa claustrophobia is a good term

This year i shall mostly be lambing.
