| Make a list of "must haves" "should haves" and "definitely nots". Look at each house and compare against your list. Have an absolute top whack budget and don't go over it, whatever the temptation. Get a list of questions together to ask at each house and write down anything that concerns you on the house details (or you'll forget which house has what). Go and see loads of houses- not together but if there is one you like, then go and see it together. Took us 4 months to flog the old house and about the same to buy the new one. It's incredibly stressful and the first government that changes the law so you your offer is binding (subject to survey and searches) will lower the blood pressure of 50% of the population.

| Oh you'll be biting your nails until the contract is signed. Put the solicitors number on autodial on your phone and constantly badger them. If you have the vendor's number too then a call every now and then to them helps keep it running like a well oiled blancmange.
